MLB.com shows no love for Gameday Audio subscribers

I have been a Gameday Audio subscriber since MLB.com first introduced the service. As I live in a somewhat remote location without cable or satellite TV, Gameday Audio is my link to the game. I remember a couple of years ago when MLB.com tried to charge an additional fee to listen to post-season games. After [...]

Mets announcers lacking enthusiasm

In my view, when I listen to a ballgame radio broadcast, it should be plainly obvious which team the announcers are with. In fact, I have formed my team loyalties in recent years largely based on the charisma and enthusiasm of the broadcasting team. For example, the Padres, Nationals and Astros all have announcers who [...]

Lidle feared dead in NYC plane crash

In a sad twist of fate, it appears that Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle died today in a plane crash in New York. I assume there will be some sort of small tribute at Shea tonight on Thursday.

Blue Jays 2006 report card

CBC.ca has posted a good new feature: Grading the Jays, a Blue Jays 2006 season report card. As someone who picked the Jays win it all in 2006, I wholeheartedly agree with the following excerpt: A season that began with the biggest of dreams ended with the smallest of victories… The campaign did, however, end [...]

Performancing stats for auction on MLB.com?

Performancing.com provides bloggers with tools to track blog statistics. I was surprised to see Performancing stats up for auction on MLB.com this evening! It's obviously a mistake, but it's too bad that the erroneous image didn't have the Performancing logo or URL on it.

Canuck MLB players

CBC.ca has posted a nice round-up of active Canadian MLB players. In total, 22 Canucks hit the field this season. The article also includes a 2007 projection for each player. My canuck picks for next season shouldn't surpise anyone: Jason Bay, Erik Bedard, Jeff Francis, Rich Harden, Russell Martin and Justin Morneau will all backup [...]

If he pitches in 2007…

The "where will Roger Clemens pitch?" speculations are in full swing, so I think I'll throw my cap in! Clemens won't be coming back to the Astros, that's for sure. He wants to be with a contender. With that in mind, I think that if he doesn't retire, he'll be wearing Yankee pinstripes. Texas didn't [...]

Top 10 baseball pennant races

CBC.ca is catching that fall fever and have posted another baseball feature story on their website today. Re-live some of the most exciting pennant races in baseball history with CBC's Top 10 rundown. What teams do you think will face tragic ends to their pennant dreams this season? At least one team from the AL [...]

What went wrong?

CBC.ca has an interesting baseball piece up on their website today where they take a look at a few teams that probably should have been contenders this season–the Red Sox, Braves, Jays, Angels, and Astros–and goes as far as pointing fingers at each teams' catalysts of demise. I can't say I'm opposed to anything in [...]

We can't have a tie for NL Rookie of the Year, can we?

I've been rooting for Ryan Zimmerman all season long, but Josh Barfield just pulled some impressive heroics, belting a walk-off, 3-run homer to win the opening game of the Padres series against the Colorado Rockies. Without a doubt, Barfield will be in the running for Rookie of the Year! Both Barfield and Zimmerman are putting [...]
