Sure, pro baseball players make scads of dough, and Roger's "retirements" are a bit of a joke, likely somewhat pre-meditated in order to attract media buzz. Calling Clemens a phony is way off base though, but this is just what golf blogger Chris Baldwin is claiming.
Clemens is hands-down one of the best pitchers to ever step on the mound. Even if he crashes and burns this year (which I doubt), how many tickets will he sell for the Astros? Truth is, Clemens keeps the game exciting and brings alot of competitive energy to the field. He's a true performer, in both senses of the word, and he most certainly gives the Astros a much-needed boost. He's worth every penny of that contract.
