ESPN blogger and former Jays employee Keith Law stirred the pot on Friday with a Vernon Wells rumor that has J.P Ricciardi boiling. According to Law, Wells has no intention of signing an extention with the Jays in the upcoming off-season and the club should trade him to avoid a Delgado situation and prop the team with some new young bloods.
My first reaction was, "Say it ain't so!" I'm warming to the idea now though. What if J.P. could swing a really sweet deal for Wells? Perhaps a young starter and a speedy CF, or a top-level IF?
Like the folks commenting on MLB Trade Rumors, I could see the Rangers and Houston, and maybe the Angels, emerging as the most likely suitors.
