So, what do you think of this analysis, Sam? Are the Jays looking for anything else? Seems to me that they could use a veteran power-hitting OF. The platoon of Catalanotto and Johnson seems kind of weak to me (a combined 16 HRs). And Rios (10 HRs) seems better suited to a team that would allow him to take advantage of his speed on the base paths. Even Vernon's 28 HRs seem a long way from the 40 that was projected for him. I wonder about giving up Gross. He had a phenomenal preseason last year and he rakes. Besides Glaus and Wells where is there any power in this line-up? And with Hinske only around to warm the benches for Hillendbrand and Overbay it seems unlikely that he will supply the HRs that he has the potential for (if he could ever get his head on straight that is – but that is looking less and less likely, to me.) Too much speed on a non-running club, not nearly enough power, and a truly defensively-challenged infield is not going to win games for that stellar pitching staff…unless they pitch a lot of shut-outs. Yeah, that's the ticket, shut-outs. Go Jays!
I can't disagree with any of those sentiments, Rick. How about adding Molina to the mix?

Yes, Molina would be a nice pick-up. I like Zaun but he played way over his head last year (imho) and Benjie's homers would help.
Be careful what you wish for! Good call, Sam. Molina goes to the Jays! Yay! Now, one hard hitting outfielder and I'll stop whining!
J.P's wallet is getting pretty thin. I don't think there's enough left for a new OF signing. My guess is that they'll try platooning Reed/Rios and Catalanotto/Hinkse in the corners, and if it doesn't work, try to make a mid-season trade. I'm hopeful that Reed and Rios will pick it up this year.
